The good news is that our Canadian B-movie icon and filmmaker Jalal Merhi has expressed strong interest in helping to produce the film on Eastern. Jalal, a long-time martial artist with a deep appreciation for history—especially Canadian martial arts history—has graciously allowed us to use his name as someone who wants to be involved in the project.
His participation will undoubtedly elevate this film to an entirely new level of quality and production value. Jalal’s past work with stars such as Billy Blanks, Bolo Yeung, David Carradine, and many others speaks for itself. Having him on board is truly exciting.
We can hardly wait to begin working with him. We are currently arranging interviews at his studio in Toronto for the end of April, hopefully just before the memorial service for Benny at Castleton Cemetery on May 2nd.
